Echoing the design sensibility of Mid-Century Scandinavian glass, this timeless shape is the centrepiece of my truly unique and handmade tableware range.
The name of this elegant carafe is derived from the graceful and fluid nature of the molten lead crystal glass as the bubble gently falls and stretches into the tapering silhouette with heat and gravity. Capturing a moment in time when liquid becomes solid, the smooth lines of my signature carafe show off the beauty and quality of the material.
‘Form Follows Function’ is definitely the motto here, as I gently make an indent in the body to create the hand hold which makes this carafe unique. This hand-formed impression of the maker’s touch, turns the spherical body into an ergonomic shape which has a direct relationship to the human hand. Making the pouring spout is the final part of the process, using a metal blade to ensure a crisp channel which pours beautifully and gives real character to the overall form. Each one features and has a melted ‘pontil’ mark on the base and is stamped with my maker’s mark; a letter R for Raven underneath.
Each Fluidity Carafe is subtly different, made with care and love. Production is limited to only a handful of pieces a day. Perfect for wine, juice or water, a Fluidity Carafe makes a beautiful addition to any table setting. An ideal gift which can be paired with matching handmade drinking glasses.
Available in several colours and clear glass. Also available as a gift-boxed set.
As they are entirely free-blown, sizes and capacities do vary but will measure somewhere around 20cm high x 12 cm wide and should hold a bottle of wine.
